Three exclusive stadiums for women’s football that lead the way forward
A few days ago, Brighton banged on the table and announced the creation of a new stadium exclusively for its women’s team. Brighton & Hove Albion have published plans to build the first women’s football stadium designed specifically for the sport in the United Kingdom and Europe. In addition, it will also be the third stadium in the world created for the exclusive use of the women’s football team.
In the statement they also announced that the stadium design will offer tailor-made facilities for the women’s team, the staff who work around the team and the fans. It was also the confirmation of the English club’s commitment to the women’s team, at time when Spain has seen the cases of the recent relegations of Levante, from Liga F to the second division, or Real Betis, which in two years has added two relegations in a row. Historic clubs in women’s football that have been abandoned over time.
That is why Brighton led the way in Europe, betting on women’s football and making an investment that will reap its rewards in the future with the rise of this sport, especially in England.
In addition, the new stadium will be connected by a bridge to the Amex, the main stadium in which the men’s team plays and will have a capacity for 10.000 people. The club also communicated that the intention is that it can be played in the 2030/31 season. A firm goal that will take a few years.
The stadium will be built with the philosophy of “Built for her” and will be designed to meet the needs of female athletes and the culture surrounding women’s sport in a venue that was historically designed for men’s football and a mostly male audience.
The NWSL, a pioneer
We have to travel to the United States to discover the other two stadiums built exclusively for women’s soccer teams. Kansas City Current opened its stadium with a capacity for 11.500 people in 2024. CPKC Stadium was built on the banks of the Missouri River and was the first venue in the world built to host only women’s soccer matches.
The NWSL franchise invested around 107 million euros in the stadium and it opened in 2024 after a year and a half of work to build it. The creation of the stadium also served as an inventive for Kansas City fans to attend the games. The franchise announced that tickets for the 13 home games they played had sold out.
Denver was another of the new franchises that debuted in the NWSL in the recent 2026 season. In addition to the creation of the team, they also announced the work for a stadium for the exclusive use of women’s football. It will be the second in the United States and the first in Colorado. It will be located at Santa Fe Yards and will have a capacity for 14.500 people. Denver got off to a good start in its NWSL home debut, gathering 63.004 people to watch the team’s home opener, which was the record attendance for a United States league fame.
