Alessia Russo just loves to score against Real Madrid
Just like in last season's Champions League, Real got off to a better start, but Arsenal came back to win thanks to goals from Alessia Russo.
- Real Madrid opened the scoring shortly before half‑time through Caroline Weir with a fine volley, putting Arsenal behind at the interval.
- In the second half, Arsenal came out stronger and found an equaliser in around the 53rd minute when Alessia Russo rose to head a looping finish into the top‑right corner — assisted by Chloe Kelly.
- Russo then completed her brace in the 67th minute with another header from a set‑piece situation, giving Arsenal the lead and ultimately the win.
- She was substituted at the end of the second half after completing her hat trick. Russo still became the player of the match.
- You may remember last season when Arsenal lost 2-0 in Madrid but then won 3-2 at the Emirates to advance to the semifinals. Once again, Alessia Russo scored both goals.
