Amazing comeback from Sparta Prague in European Cup
The team achieved an amazing turnaround in the European Cup, which no one believed in after their 3-0 home defeat.
- The Czech team AC Sparta Prague started the European Cup round of 16 at home, where they lost 3-0 to YB Frauen.
- To advance, they needed to keep a clean sheet on their opponent's turf and win by at least four goals. A very difficult task, especially on the opponent's turf.
- But Sparta managed it. Franny Černá scored in the 15th minute, and Sparta equalized the two-leg tie before halftime when Michaela Khýrová scored twice.
- The second half was tense. YB Frauen needed to score a goal to secure their lead. However, Sparta's 17-year-old goalkeeper Nikola Harantová kept a clean sheet.
- Sparta's comeback was completed in extra time when Michela Khýrová scored a hat trick, avoiding overtime. Sparta won the doubleheader 4-3 and is heading to the quarterfinals.
- In the next round, they will face Austria Vienna, who defeated Belgium's Anderlecht. It was Austria who knocked Sparta's city rivals Slavia Prague out of the Europa Cup in the qualifying round.
