Dutch legend Lieke Martens retires from football
Former Netherlands international and Barcelona or PSG player Lieke Martens has officially announced her retirement from professional football at the age of 32.
- "As a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a professional footballer, something that barely even existed at the time." - with this words Martens announced her retirement on her Instagram.
- Among other things, the reasons include his wanting to spend more time with her son, Lowen, who was born on February this year (2025).
- Martens started her career at sc Heerenveen. However, the best years of her career are associated with Barcelona. She last played for Paris Saint-Germain.
- Martens announced her retirement from the Dutch national team in May 2024. With the national team, she won Euro in 2017.
