Euro day eight. Which players to watch today?
Group D, known as the group of death, is full of star teams whose players are among the biggest stars in women's football. This was proven on their previous match day, where we saw Vivianne Miedema score her 100th international goal. And not one of them was from a penalty. Who to focus on today?
The Netherlands - Daphne van Domselaar
Arsenal's number one only recently arrived in North London, but she has already fought her way to the top spot and helped the Gooners win the Champions League title. She is also the clear first choice for the Dutch national team. She didn't have much work to do in the first match against Wales, but today she will have to work harder against England. Especially since England's star striker is her Arsenal teammate Alessia Russo.
England - Grace Clinton
The young player did not enter the match against France until the 77th minute. But she quickly showed Sarina Wiegman that benching her was a mistake. The Euro debutant had a very successful season at Manchester United, scoring 8 goals in 21 games and helping the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League for the first time.
France - Élisa de Almeida
The PSG defender caught the eye in the match against England, where she put in an outstanding performance and did not allow striker Lauren Hemp to get a single shot on goal. In addition, as a defender, she had a few very nice actions that could have ended in a goal. De Almeida showed that she can score beautiful goals in the Nations League against Switzerland, for example.
Wales - Ffion Morgan
Wales is considered the underdog in the group of death, but that doesn't mean there aren't any great players on their team. Among them is Bristol City striker Ffion Morgan, who is definitely ready to give the French defense a hard time. She has scored six goals in 18 WSL 2 games, which is a very good scoring record.
