Euro day seven. Which players to watch today?
On the seventh day of Euro 2025, Group C will take center stage once again. Germany, weakened by the absence of captain Gwinn, will face Denmark, led by Pernille Harder. Sweden, who won their opening match, will take on Poland, who are making their debut in the competition. Here is today's selection of players to watch.
Sweden - Nathalie Björn
At Chelsea, she forms a center-back pairing with Millie Bright, and she shone in the derby against Arsenal, with her performances earning her the Blues' Player of the Season award. She also put in an amazing performance in the opening match against Denmark, where Sweden kept a clean sheet, and we can expect her to continue in the same vein against Poland. Probably with her traditional center-back partner Magdalena Eriksson.
Poland - Kinga Szemik
Poland did not have an easy time against Germany in their opening match, but they managed to keep a clean sheet until halftime. Kinga Szemik deserves credit for this. The trained psychologist will have a tough time today against the very experienced Swedes. However, she knows their strikers Blackstenius and Rytting Kaneryd well from the WSL, which could be an advantage.
Germany - Jule Brand
The scorer of Germany's first and absolutely beautiful goal in the championship will certainly want to make her mark again against Denmark. At 22, Brand has had a very respectable career. She is leaving Wolfsburg for Lyon, where she certainly did not come to warm the bench, and her performance so far confirms that a big star is heading to France.
Denmark - Sara Holmgaard
he plays for the Danish team alongside her twin sister Karen, with whom she has played in all clubs so far. Now their paths are diverging, as Sara is leaving for Real Madrid. Not only her decent performance against Sweden in the first match showed that the Madrid scouts were right and that a good player is heading to Spain.
