The brand new Europa Cup competition kicks off on Wednesday, November 12. See which teams will be competing.
- This tournament provides a second-tier continental competition alongside the UEFA Women’s Champions League, aiming particularly to give clubs from lower-ranked associations and those eliminated early from the Champions League a meaningful European platform.
- Financial incentives are modest: the tournament has a total pool of around €5.6 million for the first editions, with winners receiving about €80,000 plus qualification into the Champions League third qualifying round — significantly less than the Champions League prize money.
- Broadcast and commercial infrastructure remain underdeveloped: clubs retain their own broadcast rights, meaning coverage can be inconsistent, and the schedule overlaps with the more-prominent Champions League, which may limit visibility and growth potential.
