First senior call up for Sofia Reidy
Sweden’s Tony Gustavsson has announced its squad for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers, with matches coming up against Italy, Serbia, and Denmark as they begin the qualification campaign. The squad also includes a debutant.
- Following the international retirements of long-serving defenders Magdalena Eriksson, Linda Sembrant and Jonna Andersson, opportunities have opened up for a new generation. Nineteen-year-old Smilla Holmberg has already begun to feature regularly in defence, including Euro 2025, and now her former Hammarby teammate Sofie Reidy has been handed her chance. Until now, Reidy had represented Sweden only at U23 level.
- Sweden’s campaign begins with an away match vs Italy on 3 March, followed by a game against Serbia and then a home fixture vs Denmark on 14 April at Gamla Ullevi.
