Former Lioness Karen Carney is Strictly come dancing winner
Former England Lioness Karen Carney and professional dancer Carlos Gu were crowned winners of the 2025 Strictly Come Dancing series.
- With her last dance, Carney paid tribute to her former profession and styled her freestyle to a soccer theme. The finale was an emotional episode, marking the last live show for long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman before their departure.
- Karen Carney won 144 senior caps for England, scoring 32 goals, across an international career that ran from 2005 to 2019. She played for Chelsea and Arsenal. In Chelsea she retired in 2019.
- During live broadcasts, her former teammates such as Kim Little, Leah Williamson, and Lucy Bronze came to support her.
