Hanna Glas retires from football

Swedish international Hanna Glas, aged 32, announced via Instagram that she is ending her professional football career.

  • In her farewell, she wrote: “Thank you football, for making a dream I didn’t even know was possible a reality.”
  • Her career was significantly affected by injuries — she endured four cruciate-ligament injuries but still reached elite levels.
  • Internationally with Sweden, she won a bronze medal at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
  • Her club career spanned top teams including Paris Saint‑Germain Women (France), Bayern Munich Women (Germany), and from 2024 played in the US for Seattle Reign FC (NWSL).
  • In her statement she emphasized how the best part of the sport was “all the fantastic people I have met over the years – many of them I today proudly call my friends.”
