Lara Prašnikar became first slovenian player in NWSL
Slovenian striker Lara Prašnikar became the first Slovenian to play in the NWSL after signing a contract with Utah Royals, where she is transferring from Eintracht Frankfurt.
- Prašnikar joins following a standout tenure in Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga, where she netted 44 goals in 122 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt between 2020 and 2024.
- Prašnikar began her career at Šmartno, playing alongside boys due to a lack of a women’s team, then debuted for Rudar Škale on August 25, 2013, scoring twice in a 5–0 win over Velesovo Cerklje. Over three seasons, she scored an impressive 77 goals in 55 league matches.
- Prašnikar was honored as Slovenian Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2024. She also led all scorers in the 2025 Euros Qualifiers, tallying 9 goals in 8 matches, bringing her international senior career total to 48 goals in 88 appearances.
