Manchester is blue! City cemented its place at the top of the table
City started the season with a loss to Chelsea, but otherwise they have been doing well this season. They won the city derby 3-0 and remain at the top of the table.
- The match took place at the Etihad Stadium, all three goals coming in the first half.
- The goal-scorers were: Rebecca Knaak (header), Bunny Shaw (close-range finish) and Lauren Hemp (a long-distance drive just before half-time). Defender Kerstin casparij comes with two assists. The player of the match was Vivianne Miedema.
- With the victory, City moved four points clear at the top of the WSL, strengthening their title-credentials. Even if Chelsea wins against Liverpool on Sunday, City will remain in first place.
- United — facing a tough fixture balance between league and Champions league (where United remain unbeaten) — failed to register a single shot on target and suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time since May 2024.
- It is the first derby win under new coach Andrée Jeglertz, who has been with the club since the summer.
