'One of the hardest decisions, I have ever made.' Lia Wälti is leaving Arsenal after seven years
The last few days have been marked by speculation that 32-year-old Swiss player Lia Wälti would leave Arsenal of her own accord after seven seasons. Today, Walti herself confirmed this move when she said goodbye to the club with which she won the Champions League in May in a farewell video.
- "Hi Arsenal family. This is going to be really hard. This is, without any doubt, one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to take in my life." With these words, Lia Wälti began her farewell video, after which it was clear to everyone what announcement was coming. In the clip, Wälti talks about Arsenal as her home, where she will always want to return and where she has the fondest memories.
- The Swiss defensive midfielder is leaving Arsenal, where she has played since 2018, when she transferred from Turbine Potsdam. During that time, she played 183 games, won the league title, the Conti Cup, and, in May this year, the Champions League, which she said was her dream.
- Neither she nor the club has disclosed which jersey Wälti will wear now, but according to Italian media, it should be Juventus, where she has already undergone a medical examination.
- Update: Lia Wälti was introduced as Juventus player.
