Quo vadis, Trinity Rodman?
After the 2025 NWSL season wrapped up, speculation exploded over which jersey Washington Spirit star Trinity Rodman will be wearing next year.
- NWSL has reportedly blocked a record-setting contract intended for Trinity Rodman — despite the deal being deemed compliant by the NWSL Players Association.
- The proposed deal would have been a four-year contract worth over US $1 million per season on average in its later years, making it the largest in NWSL history.
- The veto came from league leadership — specifically, the NWSL claimed the offer violated league “fair competition” rules / the “spirit” of the regulations, even if technically within the CBA.
- As a consequence of the veto, Rodman is now a free agent, which opens the door to offers from European clubs — a turning point that could see her leave the NWSL.
