Sad news for Marie Höbinger
Liverpool midfielder Marie Höbinger has had an uncomfortable experience. A stranger was arrested for stalking and sending harassing messages.
- A 42-year-old man MD was pleaded guilty to stalking Marie Höbinger.
- Between 27 January 2025 and 16 February 2025, D. sent to Höbinger repeated sexually explicit messages, including his phone number and postcode, and asked her to meet him.
- After Höbinger blocked him and informed her club, D. traveled to a match in Manchester to see her — he waited near the pitch after the game, prompting security intervention and police involvement.
- The behaviour frightened Höbinger, raising serious safety concerns: she and her club took protective measures following the stalking.
- The case has been treated seriously: prosecutors emphasised that the stalking was “intense, continual, and totally inappropriate,” noting the criminal nature of targeting a professional athlete with unwanted attention.
