Bayern Munich’s win over Freiburg came with a bitter setback. Their vice-captain, Sarah Zadrazil, tore her ACL during the match.
- Bayern Munich co-captain Sarah Zadrazil tore the ACL in her left knee during their 4–0 Bundesliga win over SC Freiburg.
- She underwent successful surgery, and the club expects she will be sidelined for several months.
- She has been with Bayern since 2020, plays as a midfielder, and also represents the Austria national team. The Austrian national team will play a playoff match against the Czechia in October to remain in Group A.
- ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament rupture in the knee, is an injury that is every athlete's nightmare. It is most common in soccer, basketball, and baseball. Treatment takes at least 10 months. Manchester City soccer player Mary Fowler is currently undergoing treatment for this injury.
