The captain is staying. Alex Greenwood has extended her contract
City is where I belong! With these words, the Citizens captain extended her contract until 2027.
- Greenwood, wearing the club captain’s armband since the start of the 2024/25 season, joined City in summer 2020 from Olympique Lyonnais and has made 152 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens.
- She described her decision to stay by saying: “It feels like home to me now and I feel this is where I belong and am meant to be.” She added she has “so much unfinished business to be done” at the club.
- Greenwood emphasised her commitment to the team’s future: she loves the club, wants to succeed here and aims to lift more trophies together with her teammates and the supporters.
- Off the pitch, as captain she emphasised that her respect for the group goes beyond football: “They’re not just teammates, they’re people I really care about as human beings … I’ve got a really good feeling about this group.”
