The third quarterfinal is here! When is the game and which players should you watch?
On Thursday, we experienced a thrilling duel, when the Lionesses erased a two-goal deficit within two minutes and the semi-finals were decided by penalties. How will it be today? The Spain, who are unbeaten in the tournament so far, will face the Swiss. They are in the quarter-finals for the first time ever, decided by a last-minute goal against Finland. But the Swiss have the support of their home crowd, which puts them at an advantage against the favourites. Which players to watch today?
Spain vs. Switzerland
- 18 July
- 21:00 (Central European time)
- Bern
Switzerland - Lia Wälti
Captain Wally led Switzerland to the quarterfinals for the first time as captain, where they faced the toughest possible opponents, but they have the best support from the home fans. Wälti has had a difficult season at Arsenal, where she managed to win the Champions League title, but she herself was injured for a long time and played mainly as a substitute. However, her form at Euro shows that she is slowly returning to her former qualities, which only confirms her leadership skills.
Spain - Alexia Putellas
Undoubtedly the biggest star not only in Spain and Barcelona, but in women's football as a whole. Winner of two Ballon d'Or awards. With three goals and four assists, she is already one of the best players in the tournament, and as we know La Reina, she certainly has no plans to stop yet.
