Toppserien Set to Begin: One Rising Star to Watch
The Norwegian top flight, the Toppserien, kicks off on March 20. Defending champions Brann will begin their title defence without their biggest star, Signe Gaupset, who has moved to the WSL. Meanwhile, LSK have permanently secured an exciting player who is well worth keeping an eye on this season.
Sarah Tofft is not entirely new to the Toppserien. She gained valuable experience in the league last season while on loan from Danish side Nordsjælland, where she featured for LSK. While staying in Denmark might have offered opportunities in European competition, her spell in Norway provided something just as important — regular playing time, confidence and experience.
The move proved beneficial for all sides, and from the upcoming season Tofft will officially wear the LSK jersey as a permanent player.
Feels great
“‘It feels great to sign a permanent contract. I’ve always felt like part of the club, but now it feels even more right to sign as a full-time LSK Kvinner player. I’m really looking forward to next year and believe that, as a team, we can continue the positive momentum we showed at the end of this season,’ Tofft told the club’s website after signing her contract.
The centre-back featured in 22 matches last season and quickly established herself as a regular in the starting line-up.
LSK finished fourth last season, a position that did not secure qualification for European competition. However, the club’s ambitions clearly reach higher — and players like Tofft are eager to help turn those ambitions into reality.
