Two red cards and Rolfö's first goal for United. Red devils won their second UWCL match
Fridolina Rolfö scored her first Manchester United goal to secure a hard-fought 1:0 win over Atlético Madrid in a tense Women’s Champions League tie that saw both teams reduced to ten players.
- The Swedish forward, who joined from Barcelona in the summer, volleyed home midway through the first half to give United their second win from two games in the league phase.
- Defender Dominique Janssen’s red card just before the break put Marc Skinner’s side under intense pressure, but goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and captain Maya Le Tissier led a resilient defensive display to preserve the clean sheet.
Atlético’s Alexia Fernández was later dismissed for a second yellow, easing the pressure and allowing United to see out the victory.
Next fixtures for both teams:
- Manchester United: at Brighton (WSL) – 2 Nov, then vs PSG (UWCL) – 12 Nov
- Atlético Madrid: at Deportivo (Liga F) – 19 Oct, then vs Juventus (UWCL) – 12 Nov
