Update on Leah Williamson's injury
Sad news for Arsenal fans. According to coach Renée Slegers, Leah Williamson won’t return to the pitch before Christmas.
- Leah Williamson has been sidelined at the start of the 2025/26 season due to a knee issue, following a procedure this summer after experiencing swelling.
- She is now expected to come back before Christmas 2025, likely sometime in November or December, depending on her progression in training.
- As Arsenal vice-captain and a mainstay in the defence, her return will be a significant boost to both club and country, stabilising the backline and leadership. The absence of Arsenal’s vice-captain is clearly being felt — the team has dropped points for the third consecutive time in the WSL.
- Williamson will also miss the start of the UWCL. Arsenal will kick off their campaign on October 8 at the Emirates, facing OL Lyoness.
