What’s next for Pia Sundhage? A new challenge awaits
After spells with Sweden and Switzerland, the Euro 1984 winner is set for a new coaching challenge — this time outside Europe.
- Pia Sundhage appointed head coach of the Haiti women’s national team (“Les Grenadières”), marking her return to international football ahead of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
- Her career coaching includes Olympic gold medals (2008 & 2012) and a World Cup runner-up finish (2011) with the USA. Her most recent assignment was with Switzerland, whom she guided to the knockout stage at the European Championship.
- Her tenure will include leading Haiti through qualifiers and potentially at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
