Grêmio Feminino, known as the Mosqueteiras, is the women's football division of Grêmio and one of the most important women's teams in southern Brazil. The project began in the early 1980s during a period when women's football still faced major restrictions in Brazil. The club officially entered women's competitions in 1983 and became one of the pioneers of the sport in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
