While at Excelsior, she worked in a café and helped run a football clinic because the club compensation was only around €50 per month.

Ishida said the “spark” for that dream came when she watched a Women’s Champions League match in Paris during a JFA Academy Fukushima trip in her final year of high school, and she was blown away by the atmosphere around the women’s game.

Between the ages of 11 and 15, she trained with PEC Zwolle youth teams before officially joining the academy at 15.

She ended up in goal almost by accident—she tried playing goalkeeper once as a little girl and then never gave the position up.

She studied Human Resource Management.

She began playing football at VV Anjum in her hometown before moving on to Be Quick Dokkum and then sc Heerenveen’s youth academy.

She moved to the United States in 2019 to study and play football, and later returned to Zwolle after four years in America.
