Henry started playing football at the age of five and had to play on boys' teams until she was 13 because there were no girls' teams in her local area at the time.

She is of French nationality and was born in the city of Lille.

At age 18, during her first season with Lyon, she suffered a serious knee cartilage injury that sidelined her for 18 months; she considered quitting football entirely before her family convinced her to persevere.

Henry achieved legendary status at Olympique Lyonnais, where she won the UEFA Women's Champions League title seven times.

At the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she was awarded the Silver Ball as the second-best player of the tournament.

Henry is a 13-time winner of the French Division 1 Féminine league title.

In 2022, she was nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award for an exceptional long-range goal scored in the Champions League final against Barcelona.

Henry officially captained the France national team for a three-year period between 2017 and 2020.
