She was born in Iraq and arrived in Australia with her family in 2013 after fleeing conflict, with her family having also lived in Syria.

She has spoken about how difficult it was learning a second language and trying to make friends when she first arrived in Australia.

She helped design and run a community coaching session in Cairns for girls aged 8–13 from First Nations, refugee, and migrant communities.

She became the first teenager to win the National Premier Leagues Women's (NPLW) Gold Medal since 2018, finishing on 27 votes and sharing the award with Aleks Sinclair.
