She grew up in a football-mad family in the village of Niederhergheim in Alsace: her grandfather was club president there, her parents played, her aunt still plays and coaches, and her brother also plays.

Just months before the 2017 UEFA Women’s U19 Euro, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and spent a week in hospital; her first question was whether she could still play.

Her diagnosis led her to former world 4x100m champion turned dietician Céline Distel-Bonnet, who helped her adapt.

She went on to earn a diploma in dietetics plus a licence and master’s in adapted physical activity.

In Dijon, she created “Tous au Foot”, an adapted football project for people with disabilities that grew from a pilot into a full DFCO programme with weekly sessions and an annual tournament.

She openly discusses managing diabetes with a glucose sensor and multiple daily insulin injections, and wants to break stereotypes about the condition in elite sport.
