She was drafted 10th overall in the 2017 NWSL Draft and has spent her entire professional career with Gotham FC.

In 2023, Freeman helped lead Gotham FC to its first-ever NWSL Championship, staying loyal to the club that originally drafted her.

In college, she was a Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2016 and helped USC win a national championship that same year.

She has international experience, having represented the United States on the U-17, U-20, and U-23 National Teams.

She studied psychology at the University of Southern California.

She comes from a highly athletic family — her sister Ashley played soccer, softball, and ran track at Florida; her sister Tiara played soccer at South Alabama; and her mother Hazel was on the track and field team and a dancer at Rutgers.

Outside of soccer, she enjoys drawing, painting, and reading.

Off the field, she is known for her fashion sense, especially her standout game day outfits, and she loves thrift shopping.

She started playing soccer because of her two older sisters and grew up playing on the sidelines of their games.

Her love for the sport deepened during summer camps in Key West, where they played soccer in the morning and hit the beach in the afternoon.

Her lowest point was tearing her Achilles tendon in 2019 preseason, which kept her out for nearly a year—the longest she'd ever gone without playing since she was four.

That injury year pushed her to explore life outside of soccer. She started therapy and reconnected with friends and family.

She’s been deeply involved with the Black Women’s Player Collective, which focuses on racial equity, accessibility in underserved communities, and visibility for Black players in soccer.
