Sam did not join an organised football team until she was 12; before then, she mainly played with boys at school and around her home.

Curling was Sam’s first sporting love: introduced to the game by her grandfather, who was a coach, she became a skip at the Royal Caledonian Curling Club and once dreamed of turning professional.

She was so nervous about joining Glasgow City that she asked to begin with the development team, but after just one session she was sent straight back to train with the first team.

Sam holds a degree in Sports Science and believes she would probably have pursued a career in that field if professional football had not worked out.

Her close bond with her older brother Andrew, who requires full-time care, has shaped Sam’s ambition to improve life for him and for other people in similar circumstances.

Sam experienced Formula 1 from close range during a visit to Silverstone with F1 Academy and PUMA Motorsport, describing the occasion as unforgettable.
