Valeria started playing football as a child with her cousins and family before taking more formal steps into the game through school.

One of her earliest dreams was not just to become a footballer, but to become a World Cup player, after realizing that women’s national teams could also reach that stage.

Shirley Cruz was one of her earliest football references, and Valeria said she even dreamed of one day being alongside her.

Late in 2019, she went through two operations after a fractured fibula and a ruptured deltoid ligament in her left ankle, an injury spell that kept her out for six months.
