Bompastor extended contract with Chelsea
Sonia Bompastor will remain at the head of Chelsea until at least 2030. Although the coach has faced criticism from some fans due to her team's current form, she has agreed to extend her contract with the Blues.
- Bompastor took over as Chelsea Women’s head coach in summer 2024, succeeding Emma Hayes, after previously enjoying a highly successful period at Lyon.
- In her debut season (2024/25), she led Chelsea to an unbeaten domestic campaign, winning a treble and setting new WSL records.
- Despite the extension, Chelsea have slipped to third place in the league, trailing leaders Manchester City by a significant margin after recent losses. In their last league match, Chelsea lost to City 1:5.
- The agreement comes despite a dip in form, underlining Chelsea’s belief that stability under Bompastor will help the team bounce back and contend for trophies through 2030.
