Germany to host 2029 European championship
It's decided! In four years, the Euro will not be held in Denmark and Sweden, but in Germany. It's gonna be the first major women's football tournament for Germany since 2011.
- On 3 December 2025, the governing body UEFA officially awarded the hosting rights for the 2029 Women’s European Championship to Deutscher Fußball-Bund (Germany).
- Germany won the vote decisively — receiving 15 out of 17 votes, ahead of the joint bid from Danish Football Association / Swedish Football Association and a separate bid by Polish Football Association.
- The 2029 tournament will feature 16 national teams across eight host cities.
- The selected host cities are: Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Leipzig, Munich and Wolfsburg.
- Notably, the German capital Berlin Olympic Stadium — despite its infrastructure and history — was not included among the eight venues.
- This will be the third time Germany hosts the Women’s Euro, after earlier editions in 1989 and 2001 — both under previous tournament formats.
