Nathalie Björn is Sweden's best footballer for the first time
Nathalie Björn has been named Diamantbollen 2025, Sweden’s most prestigious annual award for the country’s best female footballer, marking her first time winning the honour.
- The Diamantbollen is presented by the Swedish Football Association and Sydsvenskan to the standout female player of the year in Swedish football.
- Björn was applauded for consistently high performances throughout the year, both for her club Chelsea FC Women and the Swedish national team, establishing herself as a world-class defender and influential leader on the pitch.
- In 2025, Björn was also voted Chelsea’s Players’ Player of the Year, was nominated among 17 players for FIFA’s The Best award, and was named Sweden’s Defender of the Year.
- The 2025 title follows previous Diamantbollen winners like Johanna Rytting Kaneryd (2024) and Elin Rubensson (2023), underlining the award’s place in recognizing elite Swedish women’s football.
- Jennifer Falk was named Goalkeeper of the Year, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd Forward of the Year, and Julia Zigiotti Olme Midfielder of the Year.
