Mariana Larroquette started playing football at the age of six, spending afternoons playing with her grandfather in Castelar, Argentina, where she grew up surrounded by the game.

Her childhood nickname was “Batichica”, inspired by Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta, who was her football idol because of his goalscoring ability.

She became the first Argentine player to compete in Norway’s top women’s league when she joined Lyn in 2020.

During her time at UAI Urquiza, Larroquette reached the milestone of scoring more than 100 goals for the club.

She has represented Argentina since her teenage years, joining the national-team pathway after being called up at Under-17 level before reaching the senior squad.

Before moving abroad, Larroquette built much of her reputation as one of Argentina’s leading goalscorers with River Plate and UAI Urquiza.

She shared the pitch with Lionel Messi during Maxi Rodríguez’s farewell match in Rosario, an experience highlighted during her return to Argentine football.
