Martina was born in Giugliano, near Naples, and spent five years in the Napoli academy before moving to Inter in 2023.

She started playing football with Polisportiva Maristi, one of the best-known grassroots clubs in the Naples area, before joining Napoli's academy.

At just 15 years old, she left home to move from Naples to Milan after signing for Inter—a major life change that also meant changing schools and adapting to a new city.

Despite moving hundreds of kilometres away from home, she said what she missed most were her family's hugs, highlighting how close she is to her family.

Martina says the number 10 means everything to her, because she grew up idolising Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.

Football runs in the Romanelli family. Martina says it was her older brother Claudio, who also plays football, that first passed on his passion for the game.

While Lionel Messi is her biggest football inspiration, her favourite female player is Manuela Giugliano, whose creativity and vision she particularly admires.

Scoring her first goal at the UEFA Women's U17 European Championship was a dream come true. She described seeing the Italy shirt with her surname on the back as an unforgettable feeling.
