How much bad luck can one person have? Lena Oberdorf torn her ACL. Again.
It wasn’t long ago that Lena Oberdorf celebrated her return to the pitch after spending a year recovering from an injury. Now, she’ll be out again for a few months…
- Lena Oberdorf sustained a cruciate ligament tear in her right knee during Bayern Munich Frauen’s Bundesliga match against FC Köln. She will undergo surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined for several months.
- This marks Oberdorf’s second cruciate ligament tear in her right knee, having previously suffered a similar injury in 2024.
- Bianca Rech, Director of Women's Football at Bayern Munich, expressed deep sympathy, stating, “This news hits us all very hard and we feel for Lena. She worked tirelessly and with great desire to come back after her first injury. To now face a second such setback is incredibly hard. We are fully by Lena’s side, will support her as best we can in her recovery and be there for her in every way.”
- Bayern Munich Frauen are scheduled to host Arsenal at the Allianz Arena in November, a match that Oberdorf will unfortunately miss due to her injury.
